Welcome to Kedai Kopi Kheng Juan Hin, a charming haven for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts nestled in the heart of Melaka. This local kopitiam, located at 1183, Jalan Limbongan, Kampung Limbongan, is redefining the breakfast experience with its authentic fare and warm, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re seeking to immerse yourself in the local culture while enjoying delicious comfort food, this spot should be on your itinerary.
As you step into Kedai Kopi Kheng Juan Hin, you’re greeted by an inviting ambiance that’s both casual and cozy. The rustic charm of this traditional coffee shop sets the perfect backdrop for indulging in some of Melaka’s best local dishes. Among the favorites is the white chicken rice, praised for its incredible value and superior flavor compared to what you might find at the bustling Jonker Street. It’s a feast for the senses, embodying the essence of local cuisine.
The coffee here is not to be missed! The kopi gao xiu dai (strong coffee with less sugar) pairs remarkably well with the charcoal toasted kaya butter toast. The toast, generously slathered in fragrant kaya and creamy butter, offers a delightful balance of sweetness and richness that will awaken your taste buds. Customers rave about the half-boiled eggs served alongside — a true breakfast classic, simple yet utterly satisfying.
If you’re in the mood for something a bit heartier, the Nasi lemak is a must-try, though some may find it slightly on the pricier side for a local establishment. Each packet is lovingly assembled, showcasing flavors that are typical of the region, including a unique addition of kangkong. As noted by regulars, arriving early is key, as their popular dishes often sell out before noon!
Kedai Kopi Kheng Juan Hin is run by a dynamic duo—a passionate young owner and his capable female assistant—who ensure quick service without compromising quality. It’s evident that this establishment has become a local favorite, often packed with patrons looking to savor breakfast like the Melakan locals do. It's a perfect escape from the usual tourist spots, enveloping you in a genuine local experience.
Final note: this cozy kopitiam operates from 5 AM to 12 PM, accepting cash only and requiring payment post-meal, a charming quirk that adds to its authentic character. Whether you’re a local or a visitor eager to explore Melaka’s culinary scene, Kedai Kopi Kheng Juan Hin invites you to enjoy delicious food in a relaxed setting—a true testament to the heart and soul of Malaysia’s kopitiam culture.

High time I review this place after patronising here for 4-5 times. Typical Melaka local style kopitiam with typical local style service. Loved the white chicken rice, much better and more value than those at jonker street. Run by a young chap supported by a female assistant. Loved the kopi gao xiu dai, charcoal toasted Kaya butter toast and Nasi lemak. Park along the road.

Easily the best breakfast spot we’ve had so far — clearly a local favourite! According to my friend who’s from Melaka town, folks from the town area usually don’t travel here for breakfast since they already have plenty of options. Still, this place was packed with locals from the surrounding area — always a good sign! We had the local toast and a small packet of nasi lemak. The kaya and butter spread on the toast was so generous that I actually had to scrape some off — a little too sweet for my taste, but still delicious if you have a sweet tooth. The nasi lemak came in a small paper packet, and to my surprise, it had kangkong in it — possibly a Melaka specialty? Definitely recommend this spot if you want to dine like the locals and escape the usual tourist crowd. Note: Payment is made only after all the food is served, and it’s cash only.

This is my regular breakfast place whenever I visit Melaka. Love the charcoal toasted Kaya Butter Bread and the Coffee served here. The chicken rice ball is also good and the packet Nasi Lemak has a traditional taste to it which I like too.

Best best best kaya butter toast ever! You could tell that the kaya was homemade as it was smooth, no clumps, and was a neutral colour. Eggs were cooked to perfection, toast was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The nanyang coffee was sooooo aromatic and thick! I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
